From a recent buyer: I'm really enjoying 'and the word was a god; conversations! I understood the arguments on both sides, this has really brought it home, for me. I like Chapter 8 "an early christian look at the word god" This is probably the biggest "obstacle" for those of us in the Western World, in understanding just how it was used in the ancient world---thanks Heinz.--

Description:
John 1:1 is arguably the most talked about and debated Scripture in the entire Bible. Take note of the three main ways this Scripture has been translated:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." King James Version/Douay-Rheims (God here is Definite)
"In the beginning the Word existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was divine." Goodspeed/Moffatt (divine here is Qualitative)
"In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." New World Translation/Abner Kneeland (god here is indefinite)
It is this last translation that has garnered more invective than most others, and it is the one that I will be focusing on in this book.
This book has 35 chapters, There may be some repetitiveness as similar arguments are used by different authors so I beg your forgiveness and patience, but I promise there is much to digest in this book.
